If you've never tried a Star Ruby, this is the grapefruit to convert you. Named for the deep blush of its flesh, it's noticeably sweeter and less bitter than the yellow varieties you'll find in most supermarkets, with a lovely balance of sharp citrus and gentle sweetness that makes it genuinely enjoyable to eat rather than something you feel you should eat.
Grown organically in Spain under proper sunshine, these are a brilliant breakfast fruit, wonderful halved and eaten with a spoon, or squeezed into a fresh juice. A great source of vitamin C at this time of year too.
