Beetroot is a wonderfully versatile and reliable crop that we grow throughout the season at Hampshire Market Garden, and one that regularly features in your veg boxes. Earthy, sweet and deeply flavoured, home grown beetroot eaten fresh is in a different league to the vinegar-soaked variety found in jars. The whole plant is useful too, with the young leaves working beautifully in salads while the roots can be roasted, boiled, grated raw, blitzed into soup or fermented. It grows well in raised beds, open ground and even large containers, making it a practical choice for gardens of all sizes. A genuinely satisfying crop to grow and one of the most colourful and rewarding additions to any home veg patch.

Our Plug Plants:

Our plug plants are grown from organic seed where available and raised in organic approved potting compost. They are professionally grown in our Hampshire polytunnels and hardened off naturally before leaving the farm.

Plants will be ready in the first suitable planting week of the season. If you require delivery in a specific week, please let us know with plenty of notice.

Plug plants are supplied either as individual plants or in trays of six strong, well-rooted modules.

We grow all of our plug plants using the same methods we use to grow your veg, backed by more than 10 years of market garden experience. These are strong, healthy young plants, raised to give you the best possible start at home.
